Myrtle Beach Golf Properties
Golfing is big business in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Along the Grand Strand--the approximately 60-mile area that covers the coast from North Carolina from South Carolina--you can find more than 100 golf courses. Many of these courses are situated on land that includes other features and amenities.

Dunes Golf and Beach Club

In April 2009, Golf Digest ranked the Dunes Golf and Beach Club 38th in its "America's Top 100 Public Golf Courses" list. Although the resort technically is a private club, it is considered public in because it allows package play offered by area hotels. Judges based their decision on issues such as variety of design, conditioning, ambiance and aesthetics. Although the course was originally built in 1948, it underwent major renovations in 1976 when holes 3, 4, 11, 15 and 18 were redesigned. As a result, these greens are slightly faster than the others on the course. The facility also features tennis courts and a pool.

The Legends Resort

The Legends is one of the most-awarded golf properties in Myrtle Beach. The resort includes six courses, including the only five-star course along the Grand Strand--the TPC of Myrtle Beach. However, all six of the courses have been awarded in a variety of ways. Golf Digest chose the Moorland Course as one of the Top 50 Toughest Courses in America, ranking it 37th. Moorland was the only Myrtle Beach course ranked in the list. The Heritage Club--another course on the property--was ranked 46th on Golf Digest's "America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses" in 2007. The course was built on two historic plantations and runs along the Waccamaw River. The resort features condos and villas which are next to the Parkland Course.

Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

Like some other golf courses in the area, Caledonia was also built upon the land of a former plantation. Golf Magazine named Caledonia to its "Top 100 You Can Play" list and Golf Digest honored the course with distinction as one of "America's 100 Greatest Public Courses." Likewise, Golfweek named the course as one of "America's 100 Greatest Public Courses." Although the course is challenging, it is balanced by the aesthetic qualities that surrounds it. The antebellum-styled clubhouse and live old oak trees that are located at the club's entrance add to the course's beauty.
