Passport
Beginning in June 2009, anyone traveling to the Bahamas from the United States must have a valid passport. Bahamas travel doesn't require visa documentation. Passports will allow entry into the islands as well as re-entry in the United States with proper, current documentation. You will be required to submit declaration customs forms when leaving the islands. Children are now required to have proper passport documentation for travel into the Bahamas. Be sure your passport will not be expiring within six months of your stay or you may face travel restrictions from the Bahamian government.
Golf Attire
Grab the shorts and short-sleeved golf shirts for a day on the links of this island paradise. Choose light-colored golf attire for additional comfort on the course. Breathable fabrics such as light cottons or dry-fit fabric will keep you cool while playing the beautiful courses of the islands. The Bahamas sun beats down year-round so pack some sunscreen as well. Pack a lightweight sweater for those cooler morning outings during the winter months. The wet-season months from May to September can feature downpours, so pack your rain gear with your clubs. Include a can of bug spray as well to fend off mosquitoes.
Casual Attire
These beautiful islands offer a relaxed atmosphere for visitors. Nothing dictates this more than the casual clothing both visitors and residents wear every day on the islands. Choose comfortable, lightweight clothing in the form of cotton slacks, shirts and lightweight dresses. Most restaurants permit casual dress although some do require suit shirts and coats. In most places in the Bahamas, dressing down for comfort is the norm.
Other Necessities
Include a few bathing suits, shorts, short-sleeved shirts, flip flops and a sturdy pair of sneakers in your luggage. Wear swimsuit cover-ups when visiting stores and restaurants. You won't always be on the course, so consider your casual county club attire suitable for most circumstances on the islands. For the course, include a lightweight golf cap for sun protection.
