Hudson Valley Resort and Spa

Of the resort's 275 rooms, a good number face directly over the golf course, so you can study others play their best before you venture to the green. Tuesday is Ladies Day, and Mondays is Seniors Day on the course; if you fit into these categories, you'll get a discount. The regulation 18-hole course winds through lush greens, clear creeks and challenging hills and extends over 6,350 yards.

Hudson Valley Golf Pass Book

If you would rather explore several courses, the Golf Pass Book may be just the solution. This small booklet offers discounted entry and play time at more than 75 courses in the Hudson Valley area, including the popular Architects Club, Mansion Ridge and Woodloch Springs. There are also free lunches or free greens fee at certain courses as well as room upgrades and birthday specials. Some of the book's offers cannot be found elsewhere. For example, some courses reduce their listed standard fee by 50 percent while others throw in golf cart fees for free or offer a two-for-one buffet pricing.

Hudson River Museum

No visit to the Hudson Valley area is complete without delving into its past. Visit the Hudson River Museum, located in a 23-acre park against the Hudson, and explore a restored 19th century mansion, its paintings and exhibitions on modern art, ceramics and photography. There's also a planetarium on the premises, and three-hour cruises aboard a Circle Line boat leave from the museum every Saturday. The guided tour explores the history and key sites in the development of the area.
