Things to Do in Seattle, Washington
The city of Seattle, Washington, offers plenty of public golf courses and many attractions and excursions to keep golfers and the whole family occupied during a visit. The spectacular natural scenery of the Olympic mountain range and Puget Sound provide a wonderful backdrop for a game of golf, while the Space Needle and other top entertainment venues are fun for the whole family. Seattle has a reputation for rain, so you may want to ask about courses' rain check policies when you make tee times or pack waterproof gear and an umbrella.

Jefferson Park Golf Course

Jefferson Park has both a municipal 18-hole regulation course and a par-3 course, conveniently located minutes from central Seattle in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. The championship 18-hole course has a par of 70 over 6,182 yards. Jefferson Park was established in 1915 and was designed by Thomas Bendelow, the architect also responsible for Medinah CC and other renowned courses. The view from Jefferson Park's courses is one of their most attractive features, with many holes offering vistas of the Seattle skyline and its Mount Rainier backdrop. A driving range, individual or group lessons and a restaurant are some of the other facilities provided for golfers.

A round costs between $4 and $15, depending on the age of the player and the day of the week, and power carts and pull carts are available for rental. Some notable extra features of Interbay are the all-weather heated driving range and an award-winning pro shop.

The course has a classic layout over 6,623 yards for a par of 72, with a considerably shorter but more difficult back than front. After a round, golfers should visit the lounge that has been honored by Golf Digest as one of the "50 Best 19th Holes in America" in 2009.

Sightseeing and Excursions

When you need a break from golf, there are plenty of indoor and outdoor attractions in Seattle for visitors of all ages. The Space Needle is Seattle's most recognizable monument. You can travel 520 feet up to the observation deck for panoramic views of the city or enjoy 360-degree views while eating in the revolving restaurant. The Experience Music Project houses rock and roll artifacts and interactive exhibits to bring out your inner rock star, including a special tribute to Seattle son Jimi Hendrix. At the famous Pike Place Market, you can see the vendors throwing fish, and you can also explore, eat and shop among 200 vendors. For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, take a whale-watching trip to see some of the 80 orcas (killer whales) that make their home in Puget Sound.
