Things to Do in the Western Suburbs of Chicago
There are some truly great places to play golf throughout the Western suburbs of Chicago, but there's much more to the area than its stellar courses. If you have an extra day on your golf trip or you're looking for something fun to do after dark, explore some of these premier points of interest.

Hollywood Boulevard

The Hollywood Boulevard movie theater in Woodridge is a movie-going experience like no other. Its huge, meticulously designed theater is filled with leather high-back chairs and small, intimate tables, and movie-goers enjoy full table service at their seats all night long. Food offerings range from traditional movie snacks to gourmet dinners, and beer, wine and cocktails are served.

Morton Arboretum

If the weather is nice, you may want to consider a trip to the Morton Arboretum in Lisle. More than 4,000 distinct tree and shrub species grow on this 1,700 acre site, creating a whimsical natural backdrop for a perfect afternoon walk. You can also explore a one-acre garden maze, dine in the arboretum's restaurant and view displays in the visitor's center.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio

Oak Park, just west of the Chicago city limits, is where the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright lived during the beginning of his career. The inside of the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio has been restored to appear as it did in 1909, the last year Wright lived and worked there. Wright treated this home as his own personal architectural laboratory, and now curious visitors can closely examine his innovative concepts via daily historical tours.

Cantigny Garden and Museums

The Cantigny Garden and Museums is a huge complex of attractions in Wheaton, Illinois. The grounds contain the First Infantry Division Museum and the McCormick Museum, which contains exhibits on the eventful life of former Chicago Tribune publisher and WWI Colonel Robert R. McCormick, who donated the Cantigny property to Illinois. Other points of interest include elaborate gardens, playgrounds, restaurants and a golf course.

Sycamore Speedway

Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park is a great place to spend a nice evening---if you don't mind getting a little dirty. This clay oval track hosts mostly amateur stock car racing and demolition derbies, and it maintains a packed schedule from April to October. The races tend to kick up lots of dirt and send bits of mud flying into the grandstands, but to the hundreds of locals and tourists who flock in for the famous demolition derbies, it's well worth the extra laundry.
