The Stance
Stand 18 to 24 inches from the ball and make sure it is midway between your front and back leg. Slightly bend your knees and make sure your left shoulder is facing the target. Look down, and your left foot should be directly under your shoulder. If you have done this, you have squared yourself to the target.
The Swing
Rotate your hips to the right, and as you do this bring your hands back. After you have rotated fully, bring your hips through the hitting zone and your hands will follow. Bring your hands through the hitting zone and they should end up at shoulder height.
Head Position
Keep your head down throughout your swing. One of the biggest problems most golfers face--especially beginners--is that they pick their heads up in order to get a look at their shot fly down the fairway. In doing this, they take their eyes off the ball and don't hit it correctly. Keep your head down until you have finished your follow-through and your club has reached shoulder height.
