The Best Restaurant in Houston

The Best Restaurant in Houston
You may think the best restaurants in any town are going to be in the category of "fine dining," meaning expensive. However, some of the best restaurants in Houston are served in a casual atmosphere. Houston is known for its hospitality, and its best restaurants have staff that are a friendly and accommodating bunch.

Shade

If you are looking for a casual weekend brunch before your afternoon golf game, Shade offers exquisite culinary fare. Start your meal with a selection of pastries that may have you filling up on whiskey pecan scones, ham and cheddar hot pockets or chocolate croissants. They offer several egg and omelet dishes, but also lunch-type choices, such as smoked chicken salad and a Mediterranean dish (ozzo pasta with cherries, marinated mozzarella and tomatoes with grilled pita bread). This restaurant serves weekday lunches and dinner, daily, with year-round menu items and seasonal choices. Houston hospitality is not lost with the staff as they make everyone feel as though they are a regular.

Ouisie's Table

The warm atmosphere at Ouisie's Table is the first thing you notice as you walk into the large dining room. The ceiling fans move slowly overhead, while the wood-burning fireplace warms the room. If you prefer a smaller, more private location, your golfing group may reserve one. Eloise Adams Jones, owner and executive chef, offers original dishes, combining the flavors of Mexico, Louisiana and Texas. Try the Parmesan-crusted rainbow trout, served with crab, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Some Ouisie's specialties include shrimp and cheese grits, chicken a la Juanita and three-cheese macaroni and cheese. A real plus is their kid's menu, with fun choices like lollipop lamb chop and Payton's chicken and pasta.

Their eclectic American Bistro menu entries are sure to accommodate everyone. Their menu is enormous. Choose between pizza, pasta, sandwiches and wraps. If those choices don't stimulate your taste buds, move onto the steak and grilled fish menu section. It doesn't matter which you choose, it will always be prepared and served to perfection.
