Things to Do at Night in Chicago

Things to Do at Night in Chicago
Chicago has a rich nightlife that will appeal to almost anybody, no matter their age or interests. If you are in the area for a game of golf, spend your day on the green and then head into the city for some good music, food and a few drinks.

Listen to Music at Andy's Jazz Club & Restaurant

One of Chicago's best known jazz clubs, this establishment offers visitors a low-key environment where both food and music take central stage. Live performances are a daily staple and cover everything from traditional jazz to Afro-pop and swing. An intimate setting meant for the 21 and older crowd, this place fills out fast during weekends. While dinner reservations are accepted, the hosts can't guarantee a table near the stage, so arrive early if you want a good view of the show. Expect a mix of traditional American fare and world dishes at the table, such as Teriyaki steak tips, chicken penne ala vodka and the grilled portabello sandwich.

Have a Martini at the Fulton Lounge

One of the first lounges to open in West Town, the Fulton is a popular spot for trying out top of the line martinis and a few signature cocktails like the vodka-rich Harvey Wallbanger. Chill and modern, this place is perfect if you want to be able to hold a conversation while sipping a drink. During the summer, step out on the patio for drinks under the night sky. Thursday is Martini Day, where you can try the extensive list of martinis for a reduced price.

Take a Night Cruise

The Chicago Dinner and Fireworks Cruise lasts three hours and allows visitors to enjoy a buffet dinner while cruising under the stars. The boats include both indoor and outdoor decks, so you can choose the best accommodation based on weather and preferences. The cruise allows the best views of the Chicago waterfront and a first-rate view of the fireworks show that explodes on the bay every Saturday. Cruises depart at 8:30 p.m. and advance purchase of tickets is a must.
