Established in 1874, Silverton, Colorado, was once known as a small mining town. It has become a popular tourist destination. Silverton Mountain
When visiting Silverton, the Silverton Mountain Resort is a destination for expert or advanced ski riders and snowboarders. It is the highest resort in North America and is near several restaurants and shops. With challenging slopes and mountainous terrain, guests can also enjoy snowboarding and hiking. Guided skiing is available in the middle of the season and unguided skiing during the early and late months of the season. Guests can also visit the resort during the summer for adventurous mountain biking. This activity is designed for experienced or advanced riders familiar with true Canadian-style riding, including drops, jumps and stunts.

Kendall Mountain Recreation Area
Kendall Mountain Resort is a family-oriented destination. During the ski season, families enjoy activities such as snowboarding, tubing, sledding and skating. There are ski and boot packages for adults and kids as well as ski and snowboard lessons. The resort also offers small jumps, a 240-foot vertical drop, four runs plus tree runs and a 1,050-foot double chairlift. All rentals, sales and services are reasonably priced between $5 and $20 (2010). Several hotels, restaurants and shopping venues are also near the resort.
