New Pocono Resorts

Opened in 2005, The Great Wolf Lodge offers many suite styles that can sleep up to eight guests. Although rustic in style, the suites are elegant, with features like granite countertops and mini-refrigerators. It is a water-park resort, catering to guests of all ages. For toddlers, there is a daily Clock Tower Show, evening Story Time, the Cub Paw Pool, the Cub Club and Whooping Hollow Kiddie Slides. For older children, there is the River Canyon Run, Coyote Cannon, and The Arcade, among other things. Tweens will enjoy MagiQuest, Race Zone, Alberta Falls and the gr8_space Tech Center. Teens will love the Totem Towers, the Hot Springs, Crooked Creek and Big Foot Pass. Mom and Dad will enjoy the Elements Spa. Opening in March 2010, The Double Barrel Drop will be the Lodge's newest attraction, which begins with a six-story drop into a huge vortex and a 450 degree hairpin turn into another vortex. It promises to be quite the thrill ride.

Among the first casinos to enter the Mount Pocono area was Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, which opened in 2006. Unrivaled in gaming services and amenities, the Mohegan Sun holds 55,000 square feet of gaming space with 2,500 slot and electronic virtual table games. On-site dining is available at Ruth's Chris Steak House, Rustic Kitchen Bistro and Bar, Timbers Buffet or the Sky Food Court. Shopping opportunities abound with finely crafted jewelry, fashion and a logo shop, just to name a few. Even the nightlife is taken care of at Mohegan Sun with the Sunburst Bar and Breakers Bar, which often feature live acts.

One of the newest resorts opened in 2009 and is a time-share ownership resort. Wyndham Vacation Resorts began selling their units in 2008 at their as-yet unfinished resort in Shawnee Village. The resort has a mini-golf course, indoor and outdoor pool, and indoor and outdoor volleyball. Other amenities include basketball, shuffle board, badminton, exercise room, game rooms and scheduled activities. Each two- or four-bedroom unit has a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, fireplace and whirlpool tub.
