The Feather Nest Inn
When it comes to theme rooms, the Feather Nest Inn in nearby Cherry Hill, New Jersey, wrote the book. Offering fantasy suites, theme rooms and romance suites, the room list at this hotel reads like a collection of romance novel titles. The owners have taken each room to the extreme with their decorating and the result is funky and fun. Theme suites include the Tahitian Hut decorated in a Tiki style with a rock and plant and a blue hot tub. The Desert Tent is built to resemble a sheik's oasis with a canopied bed and tenting. King for a night is a regal accommodation with lots of red including a red hot tub, and French Kiss is an orange plush purple room with wild Parisian decorations. However, it's the fantasy suites that take center stage with the Nature, complete with stalagmites, the ice cave with mock ice and snow walls. There's the Treasure Island room with a boar for a bed, and the Blue Lagoon offer a lost island theme. Other rooms include the Tree House, the Space Odyssey, the Pagoda and the King Tut. In addition to two-person Jacuzzis, the rooms have king-sized beds, large-screen TVs, a wet bar and complimentary continental breakfast. Some rooms offer a waterfall and fireplaces as well.

The Thomas Bond House
If champagne glass-shaped hot tubs and tiger-striped satin sheets are not what you look for in a "theme" room, then the Thomas Bond House near Independence National Park may be better suited for you. The theme of the rooms at this carefully renovated 18th-century inn are designed to transport guests back to the Federal Period. The 12 guest rooms have been painstakingly restored with furnishings of America's earliest era, giving the hotel a classic colonial charm. Each room is a history lesson with Chippendale period furnishing, oriental rugs and four-poster beds. Rooms are named for the luminaries of the period including the William Penn Room, the John Adams Room, the Benjamin Franklin Room and the Robert Fulton Room (to name just a few). While true to the period, a few contemporary luxuries can be found in each room including a whirlpool bathtub and free Wi-Fi. The hotel offers a complimentary continental breakfast during the week and a full breakfast on weekends, as well as wine and cheese offered nightly. All rooms offer a view of Welcome Park.
