Cairns, Queensland, Australia is an old port and mining town that declined and has been reborn as a major tourist center. It is within an hour by boat of the Great Barrier Reef, and its tropical climate and natural attractions are popular with foreign tourists. Cairns is home to three renowned golf courses: Paradise Palms, the Cairns Golf Club, and Half Moon Bay Golf Club.

Cairns International Airport (CNS) is very close to many excellent hotels.

The Lakes Cairns Resort Hotel

Less than two miles from the airport, the Lakes Cairns Resort and Spa is adjoins the Cairns Botanical Gardens and Centenary Lakes, which provides boardwalks and trails to stroll the rainforest. Hourly shuttles are available for the four-minute drive to downtown Cairns.

Each unit is a fully-equipped apartment. The 11-acre resort includes four large swimming pools, a spa pool with sauna, children's play equipment and a game room. The REDS Day Spa is located on site, along with a hair and beauty salon. Exercise facilities, bocce and basketball courts, a resort grocery store, and tour services are available to all guests. Mercure Cairns Harbourside

The Mercure Cairns Harbourside hotel offers 173 rooms on the Cairns Esplanade, close to both the downtown and the airport. Many rooms include views of the beautiful Trinity Bay or the surrounding mountains. The two restaurants overlook the Esplanade parklands. Quality Hotel Sheridan Plaza

The Quality Hotel Sheridan Plaza is near James Cook University, the Great Barrier Reef and Kuranda Village. The Kippins Basserie restaurant and Kippins Cocktail Bar are both on site. Cairns Colonial Club Resort

The Cairns Colonial Club Resort is located just beyond Cairns in Manunda, a short shuttle ride from the airport. Friendly drivers greet each guest at the airport for a smooth transition to the tropical resort environment. Acacia Court Hotel

The Acacia Court Hotel is on the Cairns Esplanade, with complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. It is located on Trinity Bay, with private balconies offering views of either the water or the mountains. Internet access, refrigerators, coffee makers, hair dryers and ironing facilities are included with each room. There is also a "motel wing" adjoining the hotel, with economy accommodations.
