Nightclubs in Adelaide

Nightclubs in Adelaide
Adelaide boasts a population of more than 1 million people in southern Australia. The city is home to several golf courses, including the North Adelaide Golf Links Course, located close to downtown Adelaide and its many night clubs. Because of its relative isolation to other urban areas, Adelaide provides its own entertainment and offers a wide variety of nightclubs for visitors and locals alike to enjoy.

Fumo Blu Cocktail Lounge

Located less than 2 miles from the North Adelaide Golf Links South Course, the Fumo Blu Cocktail Lounge caters to a crowd looking for a cool 1950s-style nightclub. The Fumo Blu reflects this '50s cocktail lounge theme through a simple decor that includes wood bar stools, upside down martini glasses hanging above the bar, and cigar smoking, as well as the big band and classic lounge music that was popular in that decade. The Fumo Blu, which labels itself as a fine cigar bar and nightclub, is bathed in a bluish florescent light to create an ambiance of "cool." A full menu of wine, beer, liquor, and cocktails is available as well as small cheese platters and sandwiches.

Savvy Bar Lounge

The Savvy Bar Lounge splits into two sections, offering visitors their choice of a preferred lounge environment. The front bar section has several couches and leather chairs to offer a very relaxed and laid-back area for visitors who prefer to chill out as opposed to get their groove on. The back room draws the party people to a large dance floor and a second bar. This lounge and nightclub is only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. There is a dress code enforced, although "smart street dress" is accepted. There are pool tables in the corner of the back room, and this lounge brags of its specialty in mixing cocktails, especially vodka-based martinis, or martini spin-offs like "appletinis."

The Mars Bar Nightclub

For locals or visitors who prefer nightclubs that cater to alternate lifestyles, the Mars Bar Nightclub proudly labels itself the only gay and lesbian nightclub in the city of Adelaide. This club is open Wednesdays through Saturdays. Drinks are served here, but are not permitted on the dance floor, and all patrons are expected to wear closed top shoes--so no sandals. Cameras and smoking are not allowed in the club, where privacy is a priority.
