1842 Inn
Country Magazine calls the 1842 Inn one of America's top 10 inns. Built in 1842 by a former mayor of Macon, the Victorian home courts those seeking romance by hosting weddings and offering special packages that include chocolate truffles, champagne and fresh flowers upon arrival. A 17-column wrap-around veranda overlooks a courtyard garden, where guests can enjoy private conversations or a daytime stroll around a fountain area. Fireplaces, four-poster beds and whirlpools adorn many of the 19 rooms, which are decorated with English antiques and elaborate tapestries. For those who like to mingle, the inn has four public parlors and a grand piano. Complimentary hors d' oeuvres are offered daily, and a 24-hour concierge can help with any needs, including reserving a spot for a horse-drawn carriage ride or a tee time for two at the 18-hole Healy Point Country Club.

The New Perry Hotel
The New Perry's original building was constructed in 1870 to support a railroad extension and stage coach line into the town. A new building replaced the original in 1925, and the property has since undergone several renovations to keep up the hotel's allure. Settled in Perry's historic district, 35 miles from Macon, the hotel is a quiet place for a romantic getaway. An old pub, The Tavery, and a restaurant offer lunch daily and dinner every day except Sunday. Couples can unwind in the pub or relax in the patio and garden area or in front of the hotel's cozy fireplace. The New Perry Inn has earned a name for itself in becoming a favored stop for travelers: Southern Living Magazine has singled it out five times, and Georgia Trend Magazine presented it with a "Silver Spoon" award for top restaurants in the state. Those looking to play a round of golf have two 18-hole courses within three miles.
