Romantic Barcelona Restaurants

Romantic Barcelona Restaurants
Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is the second largest city in Spain. In 2002, metropolitan Barcelona was named "the most gourmand city in Europe" by Les Guide des Gourmands, a so-called foodie bible in France. Barcelona is home to at least 20 golf courses, including the Real Club de Golf St. Prat (designed by Greg Norman) and the St. Cugat Golf Club (founded in 1914, it's the oldest in Catalonia).

Comerc 24

Before its conversion into a tapas bar, the site of Comerc 24 was a store selling pickled foods, preserves and salted fish. Now it is a cosmopolitan restaurant, with a bar counter and tables. Owner Carles Abellan is an experienced chef who has already earned a Michelin star, a distinguished honor for restaurants. The website projectes24.com cites Abellan's tapas, his choice of the best ingredients and creativity of products as among the reasons this place is a favorite with diners. The coziness and subtle lighting are added attractions for romantic couples.

Agua

In Spanish, "agua" means water. This restaurant was so named because it is located by the Mediterranean, perched on a tower 75 meters above sea level, giving diners a view of the sea. This view can be enjoyed from indoors through extra-large windows or outdoors where it is cozy and quiet. The menu features Iberian ham, pasta dishes, light snacks and rice cooked over coals, the restaurant's specialty.

Abac Restaurant

Favorites from the menu include mushroom with avocado and crab tartare, foie gras steamed in bamboo and Iberian pork from Sierra Mayor. This restaurant actually has two dining rooms. The main dining room, furnished with oval tables, can fit 45 people. The function room is available for groups of 18 people or less. Abac also has a terrace with eight more tables.
