Pendleton, South Carolina, is rich in colonial American history, and the area was once inhabited by Cherokees. It was established in 1790 and has several remaining pre-Civil War-era plantations opened for tourism and lodging. Home to antique shops, boutiques, and the Woodhaven Golf Course, Pendleton is on the National Register of Historic Places. There are only two historic buildings restored as hotels in Pendleton, but another is a short trip away, in Westminster.
Fieldstone Farm Inn
Fieldstone Farm Inn is a historic bed and breakfast less than 30 minutes east of Pendleton, in what's called Upcountry South Carolina. This hotel is also just 10 minutes away from Scenic Highway 11, which leads to the area's popular antiquing towns. This plantation, built in 1870, has a main house with stately columns and tree-filled grounds. The farm has trail horses that you can ride or have attached to a buggy. In addition to the rooms in the main house, cottages and cabins are available for rental. Golf packages are available, and a full country breakfast is served every morning.
