The small, mountainous town of Nikko, Japan, is approximately a two-hour drive northeast of Tokyo. A tourism hotbed, Nikko is known for its hiking trails, mountain climbing and postcard-like landscape. To accommodate its tourism business, Nikko offers an array of hotels. If you travel to the city to challenge the 18 holes at Nikko Golf Park and prefer a Western-style hotel, Nikko has lodging facilities for you. Each hotel is close to the golf course and tourist attractions such as the Tokugawa Ieyasu mausoleum (Toshogu Shrine) and Nikko National Park.

Senhime-monogatari Inn

The Senhime-monogatari is considered an upscale Japanese hotel. It offers 44 traditional Japanese- and Western-style rooms overlooking the Otani River. The restaurant serves traditional Western fare (steak, salad, potato pie). There is also a karaoke room, lounge and complimentary Internet. Senhime-monogatari provides a community spa, two party rooms and conference center. The staff speaks English.

Daiyagawa Youth Hostel

The Daiyagawa Youth Hostel, near the center of town, offers four Western-style hostel guestrooms and can sleep up to 24. Considered a budget facility, the hotel provides a shared bathroom with gender-separated showers. Rooms feature dorm-style bunk beds, fresh linens and a river view. There is Western-fare room service, including burgers and salads. Hotel staff is fluent in English.

Logette Sainbois

Logette Sainbois is known for its free wireless and lobby Internet access, and its complete Western inn-style decor. The lobby contains a common area with a fireplace, while each guest room shows a view of the wooded hills and hiking trails that surround the lodge.

Rooms include cable TV, international telephone service and complimentary toothpaste and brushes. Western-style fare (steaks, salads and seafood) is available on site. Logette Sainbois is minutes from the Toba Nikko train station. The staff speaks English and is extremely cordial and friendly.
