Saco, Maine has two major businesses--General Dynamics Armament Systems and Funtown Splashtown USA. One makes missiles and the other makes kids laugh. During the summer months, the town swells with visitors interested in the beach, scenic vistas and golf. Fern Park Cabins
Fern Park Cabins recall a different time when families loaded up the station wagon for a month-long vacation at the shore. In those days, cabin rentals were all the rage. At Fern Park, they still are. The units, all built in the 1940's, are as popular as ever. Small cabins have one double bed and sleep two people. Medium cabins have two double beds and sleep up to four people and large cabins have two private bedrooms and sleep up to six people. Each cabin also has a kitchenette, so you can dine in and save money or walk to the nearby boardwalk for a meal. The location, close to the beach, is perfect for summer tourists. Fern Park Cabins has been family-owned and operated since the 1940's.

Cross Winds Cottages & Motel
You can't get a cabin in this area that's any closer to the beach than Cross Winds. Only 75 yards to the water, the cottages have a heated pool and refrigerators with microwaves. There is a motel on site, but the two-bedroom cottages come with full kitchens. Small pets are allowed. There is a fee for the daily linen service, but a stay at the Cross Winds is reasonably-priced.
