A beachside resort village whose name means "Beautiful Place by the Sea" in the native language of the Algonquin Indians, Ogunquit is a popular weekend destination spot for those on the East coast. Just 66 miles from Boston and filled with boutique shops and, during the summer months, stalls of artwork on the beach, Ogunquit draws a strong gay and lesbian tourist population. There is a wide variety of entertainment venues, upscale restaurants and a thriving nightclub scene.
