Old City is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, district that's packed with shops, nightlife and entertainment venues. Old City also has a myriad of unique restaurants, making it a great place to stop for a meal while in the area. The neighborhood is near several of the city's golf courses, including the Franklin D. Roosevelt Golf Club. The course, which opened in 1936, is the nearest golf facility to downtown Philadelphia.

La Famiglia

La Famiglia is an Old World-style Italian eatery that features classic, elegant dishes. The Old City restaurant offers a full dinner menu of appetizers, homemade entrees and desserts. Antipasti choices include battered and fried smoked mozzarella with basil sauce, and beef carpaccio with mushrooms, capers, scallions and grana cheese. Main dishes include pasta items such as risotto with seafood in a clam sauce and penne with prosciutto, onion and Parmesan cheese, as well as options like rack of Colorado lamb for two and grilled tuna served with a balsamic reduction sauce. A full dessert cart, with Italian tortes, ice cream, sorbet, cheeses and biscotti, rounds out the meal. Franklin D. Roosevelt Golf Club is about four miles to the southwest.

Fork

Fork is a New American bistro that focuses on preparing food with fresh, seasonal ingredients from local farms. This Old City restaurant changes its menu weekly to coincide with ingredient availability. The eatery offers light fare, such as beet salad with goat cheese, walnuts and horseradish vinaigrette, as well as heavier entrees like the house-smoked pork chops with whole-grain mustard, Brussels sprouts and bacon. Besides a lunch and dinner service, Fork also serves Sunday brunch. The brunch menu features classic dishes such as homemade scones, chilled gazpacho, chive biscuits and gravy, quiche, and house-smoked salmon with bagels, cream cheese, tomatoes, red onions and capers. Reservations are recommended. Cobbs Creek Golf Club is about six miles to the west.

Continental

Continental is a restaurant and martini bar that serves slightly upscale American cuisine for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. The restaurant in Old City serves twists on classic dishes, like lobster mac 'n' cheese, jumbo lump crab pad Thai and tofu tempura. Brunch options include whitefish salad on a bagel, fried poached egg and goat cheese polenta, a portobello cheese steak sandwich and honey granola waffles. The vast drink menu features vintage cocktails like an Aviation, an East Indies gimlet and a classic gin martini. The bar also serves specialty martinis, highball drinks and champagne-based beverages.
