Charleston, South Carolina, has long been a place of interest to outdoor enthusiasts on the U.S. east coast. Not only is the city ripe with history and culture, the area's golf courses will not disappoint. In fact, the 68th Senior PGA Championship, played at Kiawah--called "The Ocean Course," because of the view of Charleston's coastline--is one of many world class golf tournaments played in Charleston. If you would like to keep the ocean in sight at all times during your vacation, there is no shortage of both fine and casual dining on Charleston's waterfront.
Fleet Landing Restaurant
Fleet Landing Restaurant, in Charleston's downtown waterfront area, is a newer addition to the dining landscape, but is actually housed in a 1940s retired naval building. According to the proprietor, the restaurant is "encased in a hurricane proof, 6,000 square foot concrete maritime structure." The restaurant also has windows that offer an unobstructed view of the harbor. Although brunch, lunch and drinks are also available, dinner may be the main event at Fleet Landing. Try the "Fried Green Tomato Stack" to start, check out the "Grilled Local Swordfish over Basil and Sun-Dried Tomato," for the main course, and finish off the night with one of the fine white wines.
