Star of India - Winter Park
Star of India is a vegetarian gem in a rustic ski town. The Indian cuisine is authentic and made of "fresh, natural ingredients and flavorful spices" daily. The menu includes Indian staples such as saag (spinach cooked with Indian spices), saag paneer (spinach and cheese with thick gravy), chickpeas, lentils and rice dishes as well as a wide variety of nan breads. The spice level ranges from mild to hot, and guests can gauge their spice tolerance based on a complimentary basket of papadums (wafers) and two sauces. A fully-stocked bar serves Indian-style martinis, Indian beer, domestic locally-brewed beer and nonalcoholic mango lassi (yogurt drink). Lunch is buffet-style only; dinner is buffet or a la carte with entree dishes. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for lunch and from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. for dinner.

Colorado's hearty mountain breakfasts are created to fill the stomach before or after outdoor activities. The Mountain Rose Cafe sets the par for "down-home to indulgent" breakfast favorites. The menu includes breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros, biscuits and gravy, egg and cheese sandwiches, buttermilk griddlecakes, cinnamon rolls, quiche and french toast. A full bar serves beer, wine and "rose libations," including the mountain mojito, bloody mary, bloody maria, tequila sunrise or screwdriver to start the day. The restaurant attracts both locals and tourists as they gear up for some ski runs in the alpines. The cafe is open daily from 6:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Rudi's Deli
Rudi's Deli's has been a Winter Park staple since 1991. Serving lunch and dinner, Rudi's has a menu section just for vegetarians. Options include spinach nut burgers, veggie subs, veggie wraps, baked artipesto (artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomato pesto, mozzarella and veggies on French bread), Greek salad and chef salad. The soups are made fresh daily. Rudi's is open every day from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., but hours may vary in the off-season (May to October).
