French Restaurants in Frankfurt
According to Frankfurt World-Guides, the city of Frankfurt and its surrounding towns attract more than 30,000 golfers annually to a selection of fine courses. One within the city itself is the Frankfurter Golf Club--a 7060 yard par 71 course located, appropriately, on Golfstrasse.

Frankfurt is a large international city and like other important cities, it is home to restaurants featuring the cuisines of many countries. If during a visit to Frankfurt, travelers find themselves yearning for some top-notch and authentic French cooking, they will be in for a treat.

Jasper's

Jasper's on Schifferstrasse is in every detail a typical French brasserie down to the red leather banquettes and the art nouveau light fixtures. Diners may take a tour of France by starting with the traditional Mediterranean fish soup served with toasted croutons to float on top with rouille and gruyere cheese. They head toward Paris with the beef tenderloin with foie gras and cognac sauce served with a gratin of vegetables and potato. Finally, they end up north with a Breton crepe with caramel sauce. As guests might expect, there are chalkboard menus as well, of course and a good selection of European wines.

Weidemann

Angelo Vega, chef/owner of Weidemann was born in Spain but studied cooking in France. Vega, who speaks five languages, opened his traditional French restaurant in Frankfurt in 1981. The atmosphere at Weidemann both inside and out in the lovely covered garden is somewhat formal as is the menu. A good place to start is with a full or half portion of the terrine of foie gras with port wine jelly and brioche. Truffles are popular here. There is a truffle-infused poached white fish with vegetables and a filet of veal with black truffle sauce.

Estragon

Estragon is French for tarragon, an herb native to the Mediterranean and the South of France whose traditional cuisine is featured here. Guests may choose to add apples and nuts or smoked breast of goose to their starter salad or begin with prawns in a sauce of garlic and tomatoes. The cooking in the South of France has a definite Italian influence and that is present at Estragon as well. House-made pasta is presented with black truffles and a truffle sauce. The dessert menu includes the standards--chocolate mousse, creme brulee and a selection of French cheeses. There is a fine selection of champagnes and dessert wines to complement the meal.
