San Antonio, Texas is steeped in history from the eighteenth century missions, including the Alamo, to the San Fernando Cathedral and the Spanish Governor's Palace. Many historic hotels, those built before 1920, are located through out the city. The historic hotels in the city have been home to Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders and are also part of many of the city's ghost tours. Visitors will learn more about the legacy of the hotels and the city itself by taking one of the many history walking or trolley tours. Golfers may also enjoy the San Antonio golf courses located outside the historic district of the city.

Crockett Hotel

The Crockett Hotel is only 18 steps from the Alamo and two and a half miles from the Brackenridge Golf Course. Originally built in 1909 and renovated in 2007, the hotel offers many guest room amenities, such as high-speed Internet access, desk, refrigerator, cable television with movies and videogames. The hotel offers an outdoor pool, continental breakfast, free daily newspaper and views of the Alamo. Dining options include the Oro Restaurant and Morton's the Steakhouse, both within a tenth of a mile from the hotel.

O'Brien Historic Hotel

The O'Brien Historic Hotel is located within a half mile of Ripley's Believe it or Not and the Imax Theater. Originally built in 1909 and reopened in 2003, the hotel offers many amenities, including a whirlpool, laundry facility, free daily newspaper, fitness center, copy service and fax service. Guest rooms come equipped with balcony, cable television, telephone with free local calls, desk and high-speed Internet access. Guests will enjoy dining at El Mirador or Rosario's, both of which are only a half mile from the hotel.

The Menger Hotel

The Menger Hotel is located one block from the San Antonio Riverwalk and three miles from the Riverside Golf Course. The Menger was built in 1859. Guest rooms come equipped with a separate sitting area, data-port telephone, cable television and high-speed Internet access. The hotel offers many amenities, including an outdoor pool, concierge service, fitness center and romantic fountain and gardens. Restaurants at the hotel include the Colonial Room Restaurant and The Menger Bar where Theodore Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders.
