Although Akron, Ohio, is not far away from the larger city of Cleveland, Akron has several attractions that make it an attractive place to visit. Some of these attractions include the Akron Fossil & Science Center, The American Marble & Toy Museum and the Funny Stop Comedy Club. Dontino's has been a part of Akron since the 1970s and is located in a building that has housed Italian restaurants since 1930. The restaurant often has repeat visitors throughout the week because its specials change daily. For example, a guest can order spaghetti and meatballs on Monday and then return Tuesday to order the ricotta-stuffed ravioli special. The restaurant is within eight miles of the Turkeyfoot Lake Golf Links, which features three nine-hole courses.

Vaccaro's Trattoria
Vaccaro's Trattoria is an upscale Italian restaurant that many consider to be one of the top restaurants in Ohio. Both "Gourmet" and Bon Appetit" magazines have named Vaccaro's Trattoria one of the top 10 restaurants in the state. The restaurant features appetizers that include items such as stuffed hot banana peppers and grilled calamari. Some of the favorite entrees feature roasted mussel pasta, trattoria lasagna and quattro formaggi pizza. This restaurant may be a nice place to end the day after spending it on one of Akron's golf courses, such as either of the award-winning 18-hole courses at the Firestone Country Club.

Luigi's Restaurant
Luigi's Restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants of any kind in the city. Luigi's first opened its doors in 1949. Since that time, the restaurant ownership has tried to maintain the same decor and feel, even though it changed buildings in the 1970s. The walls of the restaurant are lined with photos of famous customers. The restaurant specializes in authentic Italian pizza, but also offers lasagna, bread sticks, mozzarella sticks and more. The restaurant is about five miles from the Chenoweth Golf Course.
