Top 5 Golf Courses in San Diego
It's hard to top San Diego for those looking for a prime golfing destination. The climate alone makes it a wonderful place to go out and play, but the plethora of stunning courses esnures its place as a golfing paradise. While some of the top courses are quite expensive--more than $100 per round--they are beautiful and memorable.

Torrey Pines

Torrey Pines is considered one of the most famous and beautiful courses in the United States and is probably the top course in San Diego. It is a major challenge because it is bordered by mountains to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the west, and the winds are treacherous. Golfers must be painfully accurate at Torrey Pines and the greens are notoriously fast. Greens fees at the Torrey Pines South Course are $200 for a mid-week round for non-residents. However, if you can purchase your round in advance, you can play a round at Torrey Pines for as little as $39.

Maderas Golf Club

The beauty of San Diego is always seen when playing the the Maderas Golf Club. This club was designed by former U.S. Open champion Johnny Miller and is more a course for the accomplished golfer than the beginner, because it offers a number of uphill, downhill and treacherous lies that make each shot a challenge. Greens fees at Maderas are $170 for a mid-week 18-hole round.

Steele Canyon

Steele Canyon was designed by all-time golfing great Gary Player, who does not skimp when it comes to challenges. The course has plenty of uphill and downhill lies that will challenge the most accomplished players. Beautiful flowers and trees along with the mountains give this course aesthetic beauty. A golfer can play an 18-hole round at Steele Canyon for $99.

Syucan Valley

You don't have to be an expert to play Syucan, because it offers one of the finest teaching facilities in California. Syucan also makes it a point to appeal to female golfers of all levels because it offers several golf schools that are "Exclusively for Women." The course is challenging but fair and good shots are rewarded. Cost for a mid-week round of golf is $88.

Temecula Creek

Temecula Creek offers a fair test for all golfers who are interested in playing a round in the middle of Southern California's wine country. The Oaks golf course--one of three Temecula Creek--is perhaps the most visually striking because of its tree-lined fairways. It is also the course most likely to produce a low score. The cost of a mid-week round of golf at Temecula is $75.
