Ogunquit, located in southeastern Maine, has just five golf courses within eight miles of town. The 3.5-mile beach is the main attraction. In Ogunquit, visitors participate in sea kayaking, fishing and nature cruises. On land, popular activities include biking, sightseeing and golfing. Ogunquit restaurants favor seafood, but the town offers a nice selection of styles, function and menu items.
Lobster Shack
The Lobster Shack, located in the Perkins Cove area, opened in 1947. Family owned and operated, the quaint wood-shingled building retains it historical appearance and charm. The casual dining location offers an abundance of seafood and American food. Diners can have lobster, steamed clams, crab cakes, double stuffed Lobster roll and lobster stew. Those not desiring seafood can choose from hamburger, grilled chicken sandwich, BLT, chilled cheese and coleslaw. The nearest golf course is the Cape Neddick Country Club. Around 1900, the Pickering family created a three-hole course. Today, it's an 18-hole, par-71 layout designed by Donald Ross. The semiprivate course also contains a pro shop.

Arrows Restaurant
As futuristic as the Lobster Shack is historic, Arrows Restaurant serves gourmet meals with items from the on-site garden that takes up an acre of land. The restaurant serves an appetizer of roasted quail in the nest with fried noodles, smoked baby pearl onions, poached quail egg and a stinging nettle sauce. Arrows Restaurant creates fresh-from-the garden masterpieces with the help of a greenhouse. Gardeners grow 25 types of tomatoes year-round with roughly six kinds growing at one time. The gardens usually contain mizuna, frilly mustards, spinach, mache, cress, minutina, frisee, root vegetables and six varieties of lettuce. The Cape Neddick Country Club is less than a half-mile from the restaurant, making it the perfect place to eat after a round of golf.

The Front Porch
The Front Porch is a combination piano bar and restaurant. The actual dining area holds a limited number of patrons, so parties of eight or more need to make a reservation. The restaurant is open primarily in the evening, so guests should plan on dining after a day on the golf course. Customers have a selection of sides such as sweet potato puree, Swiss chard and smoked mozzarella macaroni and cheese. There are three types of burgers, six kinds of specialty sandwiches, seafood, salads and five varieties of flatbreads. Wine and desert are offered, too. Among the golf courses within eight miles of the restaurant are Cape Neddick Country Club and York Golf and Tennis Club.
