Restaurants in Midtown Houston
Houston's midtown neighborhood has a variety of restaurants for people staying in the area and taking in the golf courses or other attractions. Mexican, Chinese and Mediterranean are just a few of the different types of cuisine in this part of the city.

Reef Restaurant

Located at Travis and McGowen, the Reef Restaurant was named as having the Restaurateur of the Year and Chef of the Year by the "Houston Press." Open for lunch and dinner, the Reef Restaurant includes a list of "Must Haves" that includes steamed mussels, crispy skin snapper and roasted grouper. Other entrees include grilled scallops, baked salmon, redfish on the half shell and roasted chicken.

El Patio Mexican Restaurant

The El Patio's midtown location is at Bremond and Brazos. Open for brunch, lunch ad dinner, El Patio offers specialties like nachos with fajitas, bacon-wrapped quail legs and shrimp and shrimp with calamari. Catering is also available for fajita and enchilada dinners along with many other items in bulk. A full list of margaritas is available, and Happy Hour is available from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays (11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekends).

Mai's Restaurant

Mai's is a Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant open each day for lunch, located at Milam and Francis a few blocks from the Metrorail Ensemble station. This place was named the best Vietnamese restaurant by the "Houston Press" in 2007 and 2008. Hundreds of dishes are available, including rice platters with steamed rice, noodle soups, family dinners like catfish and pork riblets and several dishes of beef, pork, chicken and seafood.

Charivari Restaurant

Located at Bremond and Bagby, Charivari is a European themed restaurant open for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner Monday through Saturday. The special Wild Game menu includes entrees like strips of venison, wild boar chops and Moulard duck breast. Other entrees include seafood platters, pork filets, lamb chops and grilled vegetables. Special events are scheduled like Hungarian concerts.
