Located on Hatteras Island and at the very end of North Carolina's southern Outer Banks, Rodanthe is famous for its windswept beaches, large open tracts of land and sand dunes. With the ocean serving as the area's most visible playground, visitors craving outdoor recreation can surf, windsurf or kite surf and rental shops and classes are readily found throughout the area. However, it is important to note that beach closures--and closure of many businesses in Rodanthe--can occur between November and March due to hurricane season.
While the very small and remote community of Rodanthe does not have its own golf course, visitors wishing to golf can choose from a variety of 18-hole courses within a 45-minute drive including the Nags Head Golf Links, the Duck Woods Country Club and the Sea Scape Golf Links. There are also several places to stay in the area.
Sea Sound Motel
Only open from March through November, the Sea Sound Motel in Rodanthe is modestly priced and ideal for families or guests wishing an extended stay. The basic rooms offer a refrigerator but the efficiency units at the motel include fully-equipped kitchens as well as air conditioning and cable television. There is currently no Internet service. There is an outdoor pool on the premises, parking is free and the motel offers a single room that can accommodate guests with pets.

Comfort Inn South Oceanfront
Located in nearby Nags Head, the Comfort Inn South Oceanfront is adjacent to the Nags Head Pier and all rooms face either the Atlantic Ocean or Roanoke Sound.
