Restaurant Bonaparte
Restaurant Bonaparte takes full advantage of its French cultural and cuisine heritage. It's decorated with traditional decor: Single white orchids atop delicate white linen adorn the tables while soft light bathes the dining area. Small, quiet tables fill romantic corners perfect for a couple indulging in romance over world-class cuisine. Order from the daily offerings menu (table d'hote) or the full menu (menu d'egustation). Prix fixe selections from the menu d'egustation include lobster bisque seasoned with ginger; duck foie gras cooked terrine style and accompanying apple jelly; shrimp and scallops flavored with vanilla; and grilled salmon, white wine sauce and old fashion mustard. The romantic bistro's impressive wine menu rounds out the meal, and desserts change daily. The choice among three "Atmospheres" ( the "Impératrice," the Green or the Centre Hall) is a Napoleanic touch of old Europe. Choose Green for a very intimate and quiet room.

Pierre du Calvet
In the heart of Old Montreal (Vieux Montreal) is the historic Pierre du Calvert. Built in 1725 as a family mansion, it's the oldest guest hostelry in Montreal, in addition to being a top romantic restaurant. The Pierre du Calvet is a combination of antique furnishings, brick and mortar and old, exposed timbers. Reds and golds accent the interior. The main room of the house is the Bonsecours, the restaurant, where silk drapes hang from the windows, and a Victorian buffet and chandelier grace the room. A typical table d'hote offering includes roasted quail with wild herbs, Yorkshire pudding, cranberry and ginger sauce, smoked maquerel salad, mini-potatoes with horseradish cream and pan-fried foie gras, brioche maison and winter fruit jam. Entrees include roasted Quebec char, "pilaf" red rice, mushroom consomme, chives and oiled oysters. The wine menu has trophy bottles and an impressive assortment of wines from around the globe. Reservations are recommended.
