San Diego, California
Not only does San Diego have near-perfect weather throughout most of the year, but there are also tons of activities for families and a number of great golf courses to play. Families can start off by going to the San Diego Zoo, one of the top zoos in the world. Or, go to Sea World, Mission Beach and the Fleet Science Center. Golfers can start off at Torrey Pines, one of the finest golf courses in the United States and then play any one of the 90 courses in the metropolitan area.
Orlando, Florida
Orlando, the home of Disney World, would probably rank first if it were not for the crowd and price factors. Golf on Disney World's home course is spectacular and challenging, but it is also very expensive. Golfers need to get tee times well in advance and play can be slow. Though at times it can be a crowded destination, the sights and smells of Disney World and Epcot are magnificent. Other great attractions in the area include Universal Studios, Seaworld, Gatorland and Wonderworks. There are dozens of golf courses in the area within a 30-minute drive.
Washington, D.C.
The nation's capital may not be the first thought for those who want to combine golf with a family vacation, but it is a tremendous spot for those who take time off between April and September. In addition to the Smithsonian Institute, the White House, the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington area offers great golf courses in nearby Maryland like the Chevy Chase Club in Chevy Chase, the Burning Tree Club in Bethesda and the famed Congressional Country Club in Bethesda.
