Orlando, Florida, is a popular tourist destination with no shortage of things to do. While theme parks are a popular destination, you will find that there are many varied activities available in Orlando, from outlet mall shopping to sliding down one of the tallest water slides in the world.

Theme Parks

There is no shortage of theme parks in the Orlando, Florida, area. Visitors to the area can choose from such attractions as Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios Florida and The Holy Land Experience.

Shopping

For the shopaholic, there are a couple of outlet malls in Orlando. The Prime Outlets International Orlando, located near Universal Studios, features the only Victoria's Secret outlet in the Southeast. The Orlando Premium Outlets features one of the three Dior outlet stores in the US. This outlet mall is located close to Disney and actually has two Disney World outlet stores that sell merchandise from the theme parks at a considerably lower price. The Florida Mall is located not too far from the theme parks. It is the largest mall in central Florida with more than 250 stores.

Eagle Creek Golf Club

The Eagle Creek Golf Club has been rated among the "Top Ten New Courses in Florida" by Travel & Leisure Golf magazine. This 18-hole golf course is fewer than 15 minutes from Orlando International Airport. It is a 7,198-yard, par-73 championship course with five par-5 holes. Eagle Creek Golf Club also features a unique design that is part American and part European, including its Scottish-style bunkers.

Water Parks

Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon at the Walt Disney World Resort are two popular water parks in the Orlando area. Blizzard Beach features one of the world's tallest and fastest free-falling water slides. You'll also find a children's pool, toboggan slides, raft rides and a one-acre wave pool. Typhoon Lagoon is home to a Surf Pool and snorkel Shark Reef, which features real sharks. There are nine water slides at this park.

Downtown Disney

The Downtown Disney area offers shopping, dining and entertainment. Though many of the area attractions have a Disney theme, you will find plenty that are not. The Cirque du Soleil La Nouba show is located at Downtown Disney. For gamers, check out DisneyQuest. It is a multistory indoor interactive theme park with lots of video games and its very own Cheesecake Factory. There are a number of galleries and specialty shops in the Downtown Disney area.

I-Drive Attractions

There are several things to do on International Drive, which is more commonly known as I-Drive. One of the most noticeable attractions is Wonder Works. It is an upside-down amusement park with more than 100 interactive exhibits. Wonder Works is part of Pointe Orlando, an entertainment complex that features restaurants, shops and a movie theater. Ripley's Believe It or Not! also is on I-Drive. There are also some golf courses located off I-Drive, including the Marriott's Grande Pines Golf Club and Shingle Creek Golf Club.
