Don't let Rockland, Maine's small town vibe deceive you. This quiet coastal town of decades past is growing into a vibrant cultural center. With several golf courses in the area, including three within Rockland itself, the warm season draws many golfers to the Rockland-Camden area. Perhaps the most alluring course is Samoset Golf Course set adjacent to the pristine blue waters of Penobscot Bay.

Berry Manor Inn

Berry Manor Inn is a four-diamond AAA property that has been nicknamed "The Wow House" by Dawn East magazine. Both the majestic rooms and the multi-course gourmet breakfasts bring out the wow factor at this Rockland inn. Conveniently located just a few blocks from the Rockland waterfront, Berry Manor is also just a 10-minute drive from Samoset Golf Course. Each of the 12 unique rooms has a an en-suite bathroom, and many of the rooms boast romantic touches like canopies, fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. All rooms are decorated in a palatial style with lavish patterns and sumptuous fabrics. Vanilla ice cream and homemade pie are kept stocked in the guest pantry.

Ledges By The Bay‎

Located on a hilltop adjacent to Penobscot Bay, this hotel offers ocean views and direct access to the shore. In operation for more than 40 years, Ledges By The Bay is a family owned and operated vacation property. Rooms are comfortable and feature modern decor and amenities. There are four different types of rooms, but all rooms have cable TV, individual heat and air-conditioning and a telephone with free local calls. Some rooms feature Wi-Fi access, refrigerator and private balcony. Deluxe rooms have DVD players and in-room computers. Pets are allowed on a limited basis with prior permission. There is also a two-bedroom ocean view cottage for rent on a weekly basis during the summer season.

Samoset Resort

The Samoset Resort allows you to stay on-site at the Samoset Golf Course and enjoy views of the course or the ocean from your bedroom window. The resort is open from late April through late November and is set on 230 acres of coastal Maine. The 178 luxurious guest rooms are equipped with king or queen bed, coffeemaker, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, private terrace or balcony and high-speed wireless Internet. No pets are allowed. An oceanside cottage, suites and timeshare condos are also available. Massage services, pro tennis lessons, a full-service health club and an outdoor pool are located on-site. The resort has three restaurants, the upscale Marcel's or a more casual cafe and grill. For seniors and AAA members, discounted rates are available. There are also a variety of package deals.
