Best Arizona Courses For 10+ Handicappers
You can still play great golf courses in Arizona, even though you don't play like a professional. Even the longest courses today have numerous tees on each hole that will enable you to match the course with your ability. When you plan your vacation in Arizona, make sure that you play the best courses.

Troon North Golf Club---Monument Course

This golf course was first designed by Tom Weiskopf, then renovated by him to create the ultimate golfing experience. The course meanders through the foothills and ravines of the high Sonoran desert, and demonstrates that desert courses can be as magnificently groomed as their counterparts in other sections of the country. The Monument course is 7,070 yards long from the championship tees and it is a par-72 layout, but it can be shortened by other tees on each hole.

Grayhawk Golf Club - Raptor Course

The Raptor course is one of the finest public courses in both Arizona and the U.S., having been listed among the "Top 100 courses in the United States" by Golf Magazine. Its prestige was further enhanced by being the site of the Fry's Electronics Open on the fall series of the PGA tour. This course was designed by Tom Fazio, and it opened in 1995 to rave reviews.

Wigwam Golf & Country Club---Gold Course

This golf course measures a whopping 7,600 yards from the championship tees, but, depending on your abilities, you can choose a much shorter course by using one of four tees on each hole. The Gold Course, with its years of rich heritage, was remodeled in 2005 when an island green was added along with the expansion of the practice area. Unlike many premium courses in Arizona that have been built around a community development, this track boasts wider, more forgiving fairways, as well as more acreage.

When you complete your round at the 18th hole, a par-3 that's 157 yards long, you will see the most remarkable setting with background created by the Mummy Mountains. This is considered by many golfers to be the finest finishing hole in Arizona, with its green protected by four bunkers and surrounded by water. This course is only about 6,300 yards long from the back tees and it has a slope rating of 119. It opened in 2000 and was designed by renown golf architects Jack Gilmore and Ross Graves.

Tucson Country Club

Tucson Country Club could just as easily be in the Midwest as it has trees as high as 130 feet that rise regally above the course. This course opened in 1947 with William Bell as its architect, who handpicked this property that once was farmed by tribes of native Indians. You'll enjoy seeing the fantastic mountain views as you enjoy your round. It measures a bit over 6,800 yards from the back.
