While Myrtle Beach get most of the press, Pawley's Island, South Carolina deserves recognition too because it has some of the best golf courses in the state. For instance, Jack Nicklaus designed Pawley's Plantation Golf & Country Club, which is a nice par-72 course that is 7,026 yards long from the championship tees, is planted in Bermuda grass, and plays to a slope rating of 140. Then there's par-72 True Blue Golf Course that is also more than 7,000 yards from the back tees and plays to a 139 slope rating. So bring your golf clubs and play some of these great courses. Like Myrtle Beach, Pawley's Island has an abundance of places to stay, and those that offer the most services are also the most expensive.
Litchfield Inn
Although it is only about 20 miles from the international airport and the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach, Litchfield Inn is on a secluded beach on Pawleys Island where you can vegetate, catch some sun and play a few rounds of golf. The hotel has a swimming pool, and there are three on-site restaurants from which to choose. There's the fine-dining Ocean One-Austin's. Austin's Cabana Cafe at the pool that serves burgers, sandwiches and salads, and the bar and grill just off the beach. Swim in the two outdoor pools, play tennis on the Har-Tru courts or take a golf lesson from a professional teacher at the on-site golf school. You will also have privileges at a local health club. Dine at the hotel's fine-dining Sawgrass Room on Thursday and Friday evenings, the less-fancy Oak Grill that serves lunch seasonally and the Palmetto Pub for light fare. Your spacious room will have a well-equipped kitchen, high-speed Internet access and other needed amenities.

Stay at this resort and you'll be able to live the easy life of the typical beachcomber while you will have the frenetic pace of Myrtle Beach only about 20 miles away.
