Door County, located on the peninsula jutting into Lake Michigan northeast of Green Bay, is one of Wisconsin's most popular tourist areas because of its natural beauty and outdoor activities, particularly those involving the lake. On dry land, the area satisfies golfers with Stonehedge Golf Course and Horseshoe Bay Golf Club.
Door County serves as a quick and quiet escape from Milwaukee and Chicago. Many of the area's boutiques, resorts and restaurants are located along Highway 42.
Alpine Resort & Golf Course
The two 18-hole courses at the Alpine Resort & Golf Course are part of the resort, but non-guests can play and purchase golf passes for a weekend or week. The ninth hole on the Blue Nine course was voted the most scenic hole in Wisconsin. For those who want to practice instead of play, the resort has a driving range and practice course.
