San Diego is a cultural melting pot of people from all over the world. As a result, "America's Finest City" has many of America's finest restaurants, featuring cuisines of all flavors and varieties. When you are in the mood for Indian food, there is at least one restaurant near you ready to serve you curries, samosas, biryani or any of your other favorite Indian dishes.
Monsoon
The interior of this Uptown restaurant is filled with traditional Indian artwork, hanging plants and brick walling. The Indian-inspired ambient music helps set the scene for a relaxing meal. Chef Ashley Popat's Indian dishes are largely traditional, but innovative enough to provide you with something different than you are accustomed to. The masala pasta features light, creamy sauce to balance the flavors of spicy green chilies and sweet bell peppers. The mango chicken is sweet with just the right amount of spice.

India Palace
This popular restaurant is one of the most notable in San Diego, as both Zagat and Fodor's have named India Palace as the best Indian restaurant in the U.S. The atmosphere and décor of the restaurant are relatively simple, but the food itself is bold, flavorful and rich. Don't miss the opportunity to try the mint lamb with a blend of seasonings and save room for dessert. Have the khir, made with rice, cinnamon and milk.
