The Hilo Seaside Hotel is one of the most economical places to stay in Hilo, or anywhere on the Big Island. It is less than two miles from the airport and a mere four miles into downtown Hilo. The three-floor property overlooks the Japanese Garden with sweeping banyans, lagoons and bridges. The Coconut Grill is a local favorite and is on the Seaside's property. You can walk the shoreline drive and look for the many markers still left high upon buildings from the 1960 Hilo tsunami that overtook most of this oceanfront town.
