North Padre Island, one half of Padre Island, Texas, is the world's largest barrier island. Padre Island is divided by the Port Mansfield Channel, which leads directly to the Gulf of Mexico. North Padre Island is just 20 minutes from downtown Corpus Christi and is home to miles of beautiful beaches and scenery. There are a few golf courses in the area, including the 18-hole, 6,590-yard, par 72 course at Padre Island Country Club with a rating of 72.2 and a slope rating of 124.
