Besides serving as a major commercial and cultural center for the Bay Area, San Francisco is also home to many of northern California's premier golf courses, including Gleneagles International Golf Course, the San Francisco Golf Club and Harding Park Municipal Golf Course. Near San Francisco's Sutter Street, which runs from east to west across much of the city, visitors can find many restaurants and shops, including some of the best seafood restaurants in town.
Farallon
Located on Post Street near Union Square, just a block from Sutter Street, Farallon has been offering "coastal cuisine" by owner and head chef Mark Franz since 1997. The restaurant's formal dining room has an underwater motif. Farallon's menu features items such as Mediterranean shellfish bisque, seared New Zealand tai snapper and grilled Icelandic char. Non-seafood entrees include a red wine-braised beef cheek and a roasted garlic rabbit loin. Farallon's menu changes frequently to incorporate fresh local and seasonal ingredients.
