Split Rock Resort
Located in Lake Harmony, Split Rock Resort opened in 1941 with 1,200 acres of land originating from part of 45,000 of land held by the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company. A red, sizable sandstone--likely a 70,000-year-old remnant from the ice sheet known as Wisconsin Glaciations--inspired the name of the resort. According to the Split Rock Resort and Golf Club website, the "quiet and pristine "four season" resort is surrounded by thousands of acres of mountain scenery including forests, lakes and streams that can be explored on skis, bikes, boats or on foot." For golfers intent on vacationing with their families in the Poconos, Split Rock offers quite the variety of activities, including a 27-hole golf course, miniature golf, waterpark, 11 tennis courts, two outdoor pools, an indoor pool, bowling alley, whirlpools, steam rooms, paddle boats, arcade, fitness and massage center. The resort borders a portion of the 125-acre Lake Harmony adding even more activities such as fishing.
