Top 5 Golf Courses in Pinehurst
Pinehurst is one of the top golfing destinations in North Carolina and in all of North America. The courses are noted for beauty and treachery. Most of the top Pinehurst courses have very tight fairways with punishing hazards and slick greens. However, golfers are rewarded with birdie and par opportunities when they can keep the balls in the fairways.

Pinehurst No. 1

Pinehurst No. 1 is a must-play course. It is a 6,128-yard, par 70 course that may not be very long, but it is tight and testing. This is a course where you must hit the fairways, or you will end up in trouble. The greens are tough but fair.

Pinehurst No. 2

This is Pinehurst's toughest test. While No. 1 is a test of accuracy, No. 2 is a test of all a golfer's skills. This is lengthy 7,020-yard, par 72 course that demands long and accurate driving. Designed by Donald Ross, the greens are small and devastating. It is recommended that you walk this course and hire one of the expert caddies on staff. Save your money because a round at Pinehurst No. 2 can get quite expensive.

Pinewild Country Club

The "Holly" course was designed by golf Hall of Famer Gary Player, and there are plenty of challenges. However, there are also rewards for players who can keep the ball in the fairway. The 7,021-yard, par 72 course is a sensational layout that features narrow fairways a slew of hazards and bunkers.

Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club

Pine Needles is a 7,015-yard, par 71 course designed by Donald Ross. The key for playing this course is to control your drive so you can hit a second or third shot to the green from the fairway. If your drive is errant, Ross punishes you with some very difficult recovery shots.
