A trip to the picturesque plaza of Santa Fe, New Mexico can include a visit to several golf courses run by the native Indian pueblos. Isleta Eagle Golf Course offers 27 holes around three lakes and the Rio Grande River. Santa Fe Country Club sports uncommon elm trees as well as a driving range, practice green and putting green. Black Mesa, which uses sandstone ridges and native arroyos, could be the "finest course, public or private, in the state" according to Golf Digest. Hotel Plaza Real

About a block Northeast of the Plaza, the Hotel Plaza Real delights with handcrafted furnishing and local art inside territorial architecture. Amenities include secure, underground parking (for a fee), a business center, meeting rooms and a lounge with live entertainment. Walking tours leave from the lobby, pets are welcome for a small fee and you can indulge in room massages and spa treatments.

All rooms have Wi-Fi, Aveda toiletries, separate vanities, and an iron and ironing board. Ask about fireplaces and balconies in some rooms. The largest Presidential Suite features two balconies, two fireplaces, and 1.25 baths with jetted tub and a full kitchen.

Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza

Preserving much of the architecture of the 350-year-old Ortiz Hacienda, the non-smoking Hilton Santa Fe boasts a pool with fireplace and hot tub, meeting rooms that handle up to 500, business center with audio/visual rentals and a fitness room. If you'd rather not walk to the nearby eateries, you can eat at the on-site Pinon Grill Breakfast room or El Canon Restaurant.

All rooms include coffee and tea service, bathrobe, hairdryer, and iron and ironing board. The three guesthouses (casitas) grace the historic 1625 coachhouse and have a kiva fireplace, kitchen, custom-tile bathroom and whirlpool tub. Just a few hundred yards away from the hustle of the Plaza, the Inn on the Alameda is secluded behind thick adobe walls and quiet native gardens. You'll discover free parking, complimentary continental breakfast, afternoon wine and cheese reception, two outdoor hot tubs, exercise room, coin-op laundry, lobby library with books and games and loaner umbrellas.
