Gourmet Restaurants in Buenos Aires
In the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires, you will find many golfing opportunities both within and around the capital. If you are looking for a gourmet meal, you are in luck; this city, whose relatively straightforward pasta-and-steak traditions still hold strong, is rapidly developing a taste for modern and sophisticated styles of cooking in several new, upscale restaurants around the city.

Duhau Restaurant and Vinoteca

Located in the Hyatt Hotel, Duhau is a gourmet restaurant that blends international cuisines with local, seasonal ingredients, prepared with innovative techniques. The restaurant specializes in wok and wooden grill preparations. Dine indoors or on an open terrace beside a garden. In the vinoteca, a large variety of local Argentine wines are available for tastings, accompanied by a selection of local, hand-crafted cheeses from Duhau's Cheese Room, a cozy spot with a fireplace.

Tomo 1

Tomo 1 is a restaurant that puts a gourmet twist on classic Buenos Aires cuisine in a style that executive chefs and sisters, Ada and Ebe Concaro, label "Porteña Gourmet." Essentially, the menu consists of pasta, salad, and meat options; however, dishes are elaborated with spices and exotic ingredients to satisfy the need for a greater complexity in flavor--a refreshing option for steak-lovers who enjoy more seasoning than simply salt and lemon. Tomo 1 offers a la carte, fixed price, multi-course menus, and tasting menus. Their 250-bottle wine list features mostly local wines, stored in a temperature-controlled cellar with a 2,000 bottle capacity.

El Bistró

El Bistró, located in the Faena Hotel, is a restaurant that experiments with molecular preparation techniques, in which ingredients are broken down and/or manipulated through complicated chemical processes in order to create rare combinations of texture and flavor. In this restaurant, you will encounter such bold preparations as tortilla and mint foams, garnishing carefully manipulated meat and fish dishes. Desserts include chocolate and citrus foams, sorbets and cakes, served with extravagant presentation. Due to the variety and complexity of El Bistró's innovations, it is one of the most expensive restaurants in the city.

Casa SaltShaker

Casa Saltshaker is owned by executive chef, Dan Perlman and Host, Henry Tapia, and is operated out of their own apartment. It is referred to as a "puertas cerradas," or closed-doors location; in other words, it is a private dining space--no sign outside, no walk-ins, and no public advertising. The idea is to create an intimate and relaxed setting that consists of small, diverse parties of ex-pats and locals alike. While the setting is mostly casual, the food--which is prepared exclusively by Perlman--is innovative and upscale, with menus that change for every occasion and tend to reflect nearby holidays or important cultural dates. The menu consists of a five-course tasting, accompanied by a wine tasting menu for an additional fee.

The address for Casa SaltShaker is only revealed through email upon confirming a reserved spot.
