Restaurants on the Hill in St. Louis
The Hill neighborhood is located in south St. Louis near Highway 44 and Kingshighway Boulevard. The area is known for its beautiful parks, many churches, historic homes and its rich Italian history. The Hill is the location of some of the most well-known Italian family restaurants in St. Louis. The area is also known for its connections to Major League Baseball, as it was the childhood home of baseball greats Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola. A variety of restaurants grace the hill, from fine dining locations to casual family restaurants. Before or after a round of golf on one of St. Louis's dozens of public or private courses, a meal on the Hill is a must. No trip to St. Louis is complete without it.

Mama Campisi's Restaurante

Mama Campisi's Restaurante offers traditional Italian dishes and pizza. It features a wide array of fish, veal and seafood dishes in addition to pastas and homemade meatballs. The restaurant is famous for its accidental invention of toasted ravioli, a St. Louis favorite first sampled by Joe Garagiola's older brother at this historic location. Visited by many lunch diners and the location for family dinners, Mama Campisi's is considered an institution by locals.

Milo's Bocce Garden

Milo's Bocce Garden is a fun casual dining restaurant frequented for more than just the food--its outdoor Bocce gardens provide entertainment as well. While some nights are Bocce league nights, other nights are for family play and allow guests to eat and drink as they play Bocce Ball outside. A variety of wines and beer are offered, as are traditional Italian foods and pizza including local favorite toasted ravioli. The restaurant is open year-round for lunch and dinner; Bocce Ball is offered seasonally.

Giovanni's On the Hill

Giovanni's On the Hill is a fine dining restaurant that has been serving food in St. Louis for over 30 years. The restaurant is a location often reserved for special occasions by locals and often frequented by tourists, as it is nationally recognized as one of the finest Italian St. Louis restaurants by Zagat and AAA. It was also featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show and has been visited by many different traveling celebrities. The menu offers chicken, beef and seafood entrees as well as handmade pasta dishes and elegant appetizers.

Rigazzi's Restaurant

Rigazzi's Restaurant is a family-owned restaurant locally known for its "frozen fish bowls" of draft beer. It also serves legendary pizza, sandwiches and pastas and is the oldest restaurant in The Hill neighborhood, having been in business for over 50 years. The restaurant has been cited in Bon Appetit magazine as having one of the top 10 pizzas in the United States and boasts over 200 menu items. A visit to Rigazzi's is a must for a beer, appetizer or meal when dining on The Hill.

Favazza's Restaurant

Favazza's Restaurant serves traditional Italian fare including pastas, salads and steak and chicken entrees. It is perhaps best known for its homemade lasagna, house salad and "Favazza's Gourmet Appetizer," a platter of house-made appetizer favorites. Favazzas specializes in serving large groups and families, and is often the location for rehearsal dinners and family parties in one of its many private dining rooms.

Gian-Tony's Ristorante

Gian-Tony's Ristorante is an elegant restaurant on Daggett Avenue in the heart of the Hill. It boasts a true "Sicilian" dining experience, offering a variety of hearty chicken, veal and fish entrees. Salads and appetizers are also available, as are homemade pastas and a full bar. Gian-Tony's menu was developed by the executive chef of a local fine dining restaurant; the result is an array of dishes at very reasonable prices.
