San Ysidro, California is the southernmost city of California and, according to its website, has more than 160,000 residents. The city borders Mexico and is the crossing place for more than 65,000 vehicles and 45,000 pedestrians coming into the United States from TIjuana. The city has several golf courses and golfing resorts for visitors to try, as well as several hotels.

Motel 6
The Motel 6 is one of the few hotels that allow kids under 17 years old to stay for free. It has a swimming pool, cable television and expanded breakfast. Pets are allowed with prior approval. Wireless Internet service is provide in a few select rooms for an additional fee, so be sure to tell the front desk if you want this service. The Motel 6 is only a mile away from the border crossing and within 20 miles of the zoo and Sea World. Many restaurants can be found by just walking down the street. The motel does offer discounts to seniors and a number of other specials.

The Economy Inn has recently renovated the 119 rooms in the hotel by upgrading the amenities. Some of the amenities provided by the Economy Inn are coin-operated laundry, outdoor swimming pool and business services. Each of the rooms have cable television with 70 premium stations including ESPN and CNN, free local calls, individual air-conditioning units and a mini-refrigerator if the guest requests it. The hotel is close to all of the attractions surrounding the city and less than a mile away from the Tijuana border crossing. The rates in 2009 start at $39.95; it is one of the cleaner places to stay for a budget price.
