Scottsdale Waterfront Restaurants

Scottsdale Waterfront Restaurants
In the early history of the state, the Arizona Central Canal was built to direct water from the Colorado River to the cities and towns of central Arizona. Now the water is used primarily for irrigation, including some older golf courses. Newer golf courses must use reclaimed waste water for watering. The Scottsdale waterfront district is built on the banks of the Arizona Canal.

P.F.Chang's China Bistro

This isn't your Uncle Charlie's Chinese restaurant. P.F. Chang's originated in Scottsdale and now has locations around the world. The cuisine is Chinese with a modern twist. The restaurant doesn't have "take out," it has "take away." Ordering online is possible. Reservations recommended. Prices are on the higher side for Chinese but not astronomical. After a round of golf, your foursome can order P.F. Chang's for two, twice. Choose two soups, hot and sour, highly recommended, or egg drop. Two starters from a choice of six and two entrees from a selection of 14--try Chang's spicy chicken--followed by two mini desserts.

Sauce

It would be hard to go wrong with a pizza restaurant named "Sauce." Stop in for a quick bite before hitting the links or take your time for dinner. If pizza isn't your piece of pie, there's a lot to choose from including the chopped salad of grilled chicken, fresh tomatoes and tangy gorgonzola cheese sprinkled with pine nuts. Or a panini, pressed and grilled sandwich, of turkey, hard spicy salami, paper thin slices of prosciutto topped off with mozzarella, lettuce and tomato. Prices won't set you back. Beer and wine by the glass and bottle are available.

Olive and Ivy

When you're thirsty for sangria, think of Olive and Ivy. Both red and white sangria are available by the glass or pitcher in 10 different flavors. The menu has a Mediterranean flair while the prices won't flatten your wallet. Does watching all the water slide by in the canal have you in the mood for fish? The sea bass served with fresh mushroom ravioli, squash and Brussels sprouts will leave you satisfied. Each entrée is served with sides that bring out the flavors, such as the Atlantic salmon with sweet roasted baby beets and fingerling potatoes zapped up with horseradish vinaigrette, or pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon and served with corn, roasted pablano (mildly hot green peppers) tempered by a slightly sweet tomato syrup.
