San Diego City Golf Courses
San Diego is very popular beach vacation town in southern California that enjoys a year-round warm tropical climate. The city also offers visitors three very nice municipal golf facilities that are open to the public and are city-maintained. The courses are also very conveniently located to anywhere in the city, including the downtown hotel area.

Balboa Park Golf Course

Balboa Park golf course is located in eastern downtown San Diego and offers an 18-hole championship course, as well as a nine-hole executive course. The 18-hole course is a par-72 layout that measures 6,267 yards and has a very hilly terrain that has some major elevation changes on some holes. Fairways are lined with pine trees, acting as a buffer between holes, and several greens are elevated and guarded by bunkers. The nine-hole executive course is a par-32 layout that measures 2,175 yards and is very challenging for its length. The entire facility is very well maintained and includes a pro shop, practice facility and coffee shop.

The facility hosts the PGA Buick Invitational annually, where the professional play both courses. The south course is a par-72 that measures 7,600 yards, and the north course is also a par-72 that measures only 6,600 yards. These course share similar terrain that is very hilly, with several holes playing in or over canyons. There are also a few holes that are on the bluffs overlooking the ocean and beach down below, creating a dramatic setting.
