Las Vegas 5 Star Restaurants

Las Vegas 5 Star Restaurants
A five-star rating, whether it is for a spa, a restaurant or a hotel, ensures that you will have a singular experience, one of the best in the world, with impeccable service and presentation. As of the 2009 Forbes Travel Guide ratings, there were only 21 five-star restaurants in all of North America, and two are in Las Vegas.

Alex

The reigning champion of Las Vegas dining, Alex, named for head chef Alessandro Stratta, was not only given a five-star Mobil rating in 2008 and 2009, but it also was given the AAA Five Diamond award and two stars in the Michelin Guide for the same two years. The menu is based on the food of the French Riviera, and dinner is served from 6 p.m. on Wednesday through Sunday. Formal attire is not required, but jackets are suggested and casual clothes are not permitted.

The ideal way to experience Alex is with the tasting menu, which can cost upward of $300 with the suggested wine pairings. The meal is served over several hours and is widely regarded as worth every penny.

Joel Robuchon

Joel Robuchon has been called the "Chef of the Century," and he was brought out of retirement to open his first French restaurant in the United States at the MGM Grand hotel and casino. The dining room is small, creating both an intimate environment and limited seating. It is open for dinner every evening, and a prix fixe menu is always available, with tastings starting at under $100. For the truly epic experience, though, opt for spending almost $400 on 16 courses, which includes Robuchon's signature caviar and is supervised by the chef himself.

Up and Comers

A four-star rating is also an impressive accomplishment, and it ensures that your dining experience will include both outstanding food and immaculate service. Las Vegas also offers many four-star restaurants, several of which are future contenders for five-star ratings. Any food fan would do well to visit one of these restaurants on a visit to Las Vegas. They include Picasso at the Bellagio, where one can dine while taking in priceless works of art; Le Cirque, also at the Bellagio, which offers the same dining experience as the world-famous restaurant of the same name in New York City; and Aureole at Mandalay Bay, which is built around a towering 42-foot tower that houses more than 10,000 bottles of wine.
