Couples Resorts in the Pocono Mountains

By Marcia Frost

Couples Resorts in the Pocono Mountains
With 150 lakes and rolling hills that change color with the season, the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania is a wonderful destination for romance. There are four counties within the Poconos that offer a variety of activities, including championship golf courses designed by masters like Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, Rocky Roquemore and Jack Nicklaus. Couples can stay in resorts that offer their own courses.

Penn Hills Resort

The Penn Hills Resort has accommodations for couples that include private saunas, whirlpools and fireplaces. The hotel's Rainbow Waterfalls adds to a romantic climate, but there is still plenty of activity at the sports facilities. The hotel is next door to the Evergreen Golf Club and offers free golf (and skiing at Alpine Mountain) to its guests.

There are five different restaurants and packages that include food, skiing and spa treatments. The hotel has its own 18-hole golf course open from the spring through the fall.

The Crescent Lodge & Country Inn

At the Crescent Lodge & Country Inn, couples can plan an escape in private cottages, complete with fireplaces and Jacuzzis. Horseback riding, skiing and whitewater rafting are nearby. Packages for romantic getaways (including spa services) are available at the Crescent Lodge & Country Inn. The Buck Hill Golf Club is a short drive away.

Caesars Pocono Resorts

Caesars Pocono Resorts -- Cove Haven, Paradise Stream and Pocono Palace -- are famous in the Pocono Mountains as the place for couples. From Champagne tower whirlpools to heart shape beds, it is all about romance at the Caesars Pocono Resorts. There's still plenty to do outdoors for couples, though. Couples have access to activities like tennis, snowmobiling and tubing, volleyball, racquetball, and golf at the resort's nine-hole course.
